A local community partner helped a young man who recently moved to Oregon from another state.
The young man is a Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) and only had a copy of one side of his LPR card. After the community partner (CP) helped him apply for the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) they noticed the application was pending and needed further review. The CP called the special phone line for CPs to request the application be processed as urgent. The young man is HIV positive and only had a few pills left of his anti-viral medication. The CP was able to sort out his application over the phone and then with the person’s permission, contacted his previous health care provider and had another prescription written for him. The CP also reached out to a local pharmacy to help the young man get his medication.
This is just one of the many examples of our community partners’ commitment to not only help someone get OHP but help them get the health services they need.
